Fully fund a new surgery for Woodstock
The open meeting on Thursday 21 November showed how frustrated residents in Woodstock are by the failure to deliver a new surgery.
There have been too many years of delay while the situation has worsened. The doctors have now warned they may soon need to close their list to new patients. They want to expand but cannot. The current facilities are not fit for purpose with a nurse working from a former storage cupboard. The surgery recently had to close when a roof collapsed.
The meeting heard that the local health board (the ICB) was not able to fund a new surgery on the Hensington Road site and had limited capital from government for future projects.
The doctors, the councils and Blenheim Estates all said they were willing to work urgently on the project.
Calum Miller MP is convening a first meeting in early December to kick this off.
What we now need is the government and ICB to realise how desperate the situation is and to commit to funding a new surgery.
Please sign our petition and join the campaign for a new surgery. With collective action, we can demand the investment the town deserves and bring an end to years of inaction.
Fund a new surgery for Woodstock
I call on the Berkshire Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Integrated Care Board (BOB ICB) to work urgently with other partners to deliver a new surgery for Woodstock. I ask the BOB ICB and government to allocate funding for Woodstock given a rapidly increasing population, the insufficient space at the current surgery and its poor condition and accessibility.
