We need better access to NHS Dentists

The Government has allowed NHS dental provision in this country to reach crisis level, with patients across the country struggling to get dental treatment on the NHS.

83,000 children did not see an NHS dentist in Oxfordshire last year, and residents are finding it increasingly difficult to sign up with an NHS dentist.

This crisis has been caused by several factors including a contract that pushes dentists away from providing NHS services, a shortage of trained dentists in the UK and experienced overseas dentists finding it too difficult to come to the UK to help fill this shortage.

We need better access to NHS Dentists

I/we support the local Lib Dem campaign for the Government to increase access to NHS dentists. In particular, we call on the Government to increase training places for new dentists, reform NHS dental contracts and make it easier to recruit experienced dentists to fill dental vacancies.
