ELECTION LATEST: It's so close

Elections in Didcot and Wantage are a close fight between the Liberal Democrats and Conservatives

Your vote WILL make the difference between whether our next MP is Lib Dem Olly Glover or a Conservative MP.

Bar chart showing the estimated result in the new Didcot and Wantage constituency at the last General Election in 2019, published by The Guardian, Feb 2024: Con 49.8%, Lib Dem 31.3%, Labour 16%.

How people vote in closely fought constituencies like here in Didcot and Wantage constituency will decide the result of the upcoming General Election.

Large-scale polls published in the Mirror, Telegraph, and Times in recent months suggest it's a tight battle between the Lib Dems and the Conservatives here. Just a handful of votes could decide which of them wins this time.

Every vote will make a difference between a Conservative or Lib Dem win here.

The Didcot and Wantage constituency covers a large area of rural Oxfordshire, as well as Didcot itself and the market towns of Wantage and Wallingford. Whilst Labour has pockets of support locally, it has never come close to winning right across this constituency in a General Election.

Lib Dem or Conservative here

There are two choices. Either we will get a Conservative MP - and the out of touch government will continue to take our part of Oxfordshire for granted, or we will get a Lib Dem MP in Olly Glover and we will have helped bring down this government.

No other result is possible here.

A Labour vote will help the Conservatives win

A vote for third-place Labour here risks letting the Conservatives sneak a win, and help this government cling to power.

Labour won just 3 councillors in last year's district elections, all in one ward in Didcot. The Liberal Democrats won 20. They just can't beat the Conservatives here.
